i mean yes? but like for a lot of poor kids who are from shitty public school systems this is really one of the few ways they can actually go to college and gain any sort of decent employment (remember, more and more ‘merit aid’ scholarships are going to wealthy students and we’re shipping more and more manufacturing jobs overseas and like for any living-wage paying job u need a bachelor’s and no entry level jobs exist anymore bc they’re all unpaid internships).

unless u mean like the colleges making the kids ignore classes and just play sports in order to exploit them to make massive sums of money and make them work long hours and not pay them (in ref to yr ‘so they can hit a ball with a stick or throw balls for 4 years’ part). in that case then yeah fuck that.
